In these times of war, a poor woodcutter and his wife live in a large forest. One day, the woman finds and saves a little girl, which brings an irreversible change to the lives of the couple and the child in their path.
It is the best 2024 release I have seen so far, and it is in mid-December 2024
It tells a story that is set in Poland during World War II, almost like a folk tale. Most of the plot takes place in the forest, so typical of the aforementioned folk tales, around a couple of hunters who adopt a little Jewish girl who was thrown from a deportation train passing through their forest.
On the technical side, everything is also perfectly done
The father threw her away to save her from certain death in Auschwitz. I will not go into more details of the plot, so that you can see them for yourself, I just want to add that the film comes to a deeply philosophical conclusion.
The visuals of the film are excellently done
The drawing style is fair, not too detailed nor too messy, and it shows mostly in the dark scenes the dominant shades of gray, which highlights the horrors of the most infamous war and genocide in human history. And then the soundtrack, which is sublime: the musical soundtrack, the sound effects, the narration and the dubbing (I saw the original version in French), all are perfectly suited to present this gem of a film.
In conclusion, it is one of the best films that deals with the subject of racism and in particular the Shoah, through its artistic approach and the story it wants to tell
